The Narrative: "Today Is Tanisha Burton founded the Day Inc. out of a simple but powerful realization: No family should have to navigate the journey of LGBTQ+ advocacy alone. What started as a personal mission to support her own family has grown into a community-wide movement. We understand the questions, the fears, and the joys that come with raising LGBTQIA+ youth because we have lived it with them.
Today, we stand as a bridge for Detroit families connecting them to life-saving resources, nutritional support through Resource, Advocacy, Health Stewards Initiative, Community Outreach & Essentials, Workforce Engagement, Support, and a safe, affirming space where every young person is celebrated exactly as they are."
Today Is The Day Inc. wasn’t born in a boardroom; it was born from the heart of a mother. Founded by Tanisha Burton, our organization is built on the reality of lived experience.
Tanisha understood that while parents and youth face unique challenges, the solution is always the same: a community that listens without judgment. We aren’t just a 501(c)(3) nonprofit; we are your neighbors, your advocates, and your support system. We’ve walked the path, and now we’re here to walk it with you."
